A little History
In 2002, the St David’s Farm & Equine Practice moved from its base in Marsh Barton Farm to a new premises at Nutwell Court. The building planned for the new practice was an 18th century indoor riding school which had recently suffered severe fire damage, and needed to be fully restored. As the premises and surrounding buildings were all Grade 2 star listed, and of interest to English Heritage, planning took 3 years. In June 2006 the new building was completed, and the first part of the vision has come to pass.
So what is our vision ?
At Nutwell Court, we intend to provide a complete large animal veterinary practice , together with a wide range of ancillary business’s. We have divided the original practice into 3 sections, The St David’s Equine Practice ltd., The St David’s Farm Practice Ltd., and the Poultry Team. These are separate financial entities, but share facilities.
Alongside the equine practice we have developed other services including physiotherapy and remedial farriery. Nutwell saddlery Ltd., has its base at Nutwell, and although being a completely separate business, works with the vet team if there are back issues due to saddle fit.
Nutwell is the centre for the farm practice, which also has bases in Bridgwater and Okehampton. We will soon be developing a base in the South Hams area of Devon to give local support to our clients. The farm practice is leading the reduction in drug costs, but still provides a high quality professional input to the farmer.
The Poultry Team, a part of the original St David’s Farm & Equine Practice , is a national provider of veterinary services to the poultry industry, and to smaller free range , organic and hobby farmers.
Some years ago , as the business grew, it was clear that IT needed to improve. In order to provide a complete IT service to the practice, a new venture, St David’s IT Solutions was set up. In summary, we believe that the individual companies can better focus on their clients requirements, and working together at Nutwell can gain from each others knowledge and experience. We are always interested in other business which might like to be based with us to provide a comprehensive service to large animal and poultry farmers and owners.
