The poultry practice offers veterinary services to all species of birds across the whole of the UK. There are 4 poultry vets working from Exeter in Devon, and Wincanton in Somerset.

Richard Turner and Alan Beynon are the Partners responsible for the Poultry Team, with Tony O’Loughlin working form Exeter. David Parsons, working from his home in Wiltshire has many years of poultry expertise, and now spends most of his time with Broiler Breeders, Hatcheries and Broilers. Together with Alan Beynon, he also has extensive Pigeon knowledge. Richard Turner works with all species, and also has consultancies across Europe. Alan works with both layers and broilers, and during the Game Season is the main vet involved with Gamebird disease and management.

The vets are members of the British Poultry Veterinary Association, as well as acting as experts to the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons, and Richard attends the European Poultry Study Group.

The Practice offers a wide range of laboratory backup, and prices for services can be obtained by contacting the poultry team using the contact form on the contact page.

We offer a range of veterinary services, with farm visits playing an important role in planning preventative policies. There is a fully stocked pharmacy at the surgery, and due to the size of the business, competitive prices are offered to clients. If you would like to discuss our poultry services in more detail, please contact the poultry team on 01392 872932, or Richard Turner on O7836 344 080.

The Nutwell Concept

In 1996 St David's Farm and Equine Practice was established when the St David's Veterinary Group of small and large animal veterinary practices was divided in 1996. Richard Turner, Alan Beynon and Bob Barker realised that customers required more specialised veterinary advice. As a result, the Poultry business became autonomous, as did Farm and Equine Practices. Vets were focussed on their area of interest and this created a high level of staff motivation, and the ability to offer more specialised veterinary services to our clients. All three businesses share IT, Dispensary and the accounts services so reducing each individual businesses costs. Two new Companies have now joined in the Nutwell concept, one supplying trade goods and services to the poultry Industry and the other supplying a high quality bespoke saddlery consultancy with one of the few Master saddlers in the South West. The new Nutwell facilities include training rooms for farmer meetings, a state of the art post mortem suite as well as an indoor riding arena, surgical rooms for horses and gamma scanning rooms. In this way we hope to offer all services to our clients on one site, with many businesses being represented. We believe it is through shared information, working alongside Feed Companies as well as Hatcheries and other related businesses that the farmer will benefit from an integrated approach. We hope that the Nutwell Concept will continue to attract new businesses that have a similar value system.
